800,000 Samsung Galaxy S Handsets Have Now Been Sold In South Korea

800,000 Samsung Galaxy S Handsets Have Now Been Sold In South Korea

Samsung have managed to sell over 800,000 of their flagship Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S, in South Korea outstripping sales of Apple’s iPhone, which sold the amount amount of handsets in 8 months on being on sale in the country.

We previously reported in July that Samsung had cleared the 300,000 mark, at the same time announcing that its Bada-powered Samsung Wave smartphone had sold over one million units since its launch.

It’s taken Samsung just under 60 days to achieve this impressive feat in South Korea, with worldwide shipments passing one million units two weeks previous.

As a result of the surge in sales, the Samsung App Store has just surpassed 4 million downloads, a huge total considering there are less than 1000 apps on the store.

The news will be a huge boost for Samsung, the company will look to capitalise on its success in its home country and emulate it across the world.
