Microsoft launches Band 2 fitness tracker with curved OLED touchscreen

Microsoft has revealed details of its second-generation wearable activity tracker Band 2, which sports a curved touchscreen.

On-board sensors include an optical heart rate sensor, 3-axis accelerometer, gyrometer, GPS, ambient light sensor, skin temperature sensor, UV sensor, capacitive sensor, microphone and a galvanic skin response sensor. There’s also now a barometer to help you measure elevation changes in real-time and tools for estimating a ‘VO2 max‘ reading.

The combination of all these sensors mean the band can also detect things like automatically track things like a golf swing, cycling and a range of other activities.

The Band 2 will be available to pre-order from today and will arrive from October 30, priced at $249.
