Microsoft has today announced that the Lumia 735 will be available in the UK from October 2, and it’ll be the first handset to arrive running Microsoft’s Cortana digital assistant.
Priced from around £20 on contract (we’re still awaiting confirmation of a SIM-free price), the device was first announced three weeks ago, alongside a dual-SIM, non-LTE variant.
Key specs include the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system (with Lumia Denim), a 4.7-inch 720p OLED display, a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 8GB of onboard storage (with microSD support) and a 6.7-megapixel camera. Microsoft has also taken into account the recent selfie craze and included a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper and custom app specifically for this.
The device is expected to go on sale at the beginning of next month from “all major retailers”, Microsoft said. It’ll be offered in the now well known range of bright Lumia colors, like orange and bright green, as well as in more muted tones, such as dark grey or white.
