Microsoft to release a beta of real-time translation over Skype later this year

At Re/code’s Code Conference on Tuesday, Microsoft showed off upcoming real-time translation functionality that’s coming to Skype soon. The company said in a blog post that it plans to bring the feature to a Windows 8 beta later this year.

Microsoft Research first showed off its real-time translation capabilities a couple years ago. The company has also looked into building a similar feature for translating sign language with its Kinect camera.
