Microsoft will be taking part in the ‘Safer Internet Day‘ this February 8th, 2011.
The day’s goals are to: “promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world”
Microsoft, purveyors of the world’s most popular operating systems and Internet browsers, has strong reasons to support days and events such as Safer Internet Day that can help the company move past its reputation as insecure.
According to WinRumors: “The software giant will focus on kids and gaming for Safer Internet Day by releasing new research. The research is aimed at understanding awareness and perceptions about online gaming from parents of gamers and gamers themselves.”
That research will be available for download on the day of the event. Safer Internet Day is celebrated in 60 countries around the world. Finally, we leave you with a video that Insafe, the main organizer of the day, put together to explain their motives:
