BitMonet’s micro-paywall now supports Tumblr and Blogger sites and payment via PayPal

Bitcoin startup BitMonet has announced a host of new features that greatly extend its micro-paywall service, which lets publishers monetize content their content using a flexible and low-cost gateway. Tumblr and Blogger websites are now supported, in addition to WordPress, while it is going beyond Bitcoin to let readers pay using PayPal.

The addition of Paypal opens BitMonet paywalls to readers that don’t use Bitcoin, and that’s important because publishers were effectively locking their content for those who use the virtual currency only. However the Paypal option is more expensive for readers, who should anticipate a higher transaction fee at 2.9 percent (plus 30 cents per transaction) compared to Bitcoin’s low prices.
