Comcast announced a groundbreaking partnership with NBCUniversal and Twitter today, which will allow users to tune into live streaming from their set-top box, smartphone or tablet just by tapping the ‘See It’ button that will be embedded in selected tweets.
The feature, available only to Xfinity TV customers, will roll-out in November for shows airing on NBCUniversal’s networks. In addition to watching the show live, users will also be able to set reminders for upcoming shows, set their DVR and buy theater tickets through Fandango.
The following shows will be supported with the ‘See It’ button, the technology for which was developed by Comcast in-house, from November:
- The Voice (NBC)
- The Blacklist (NBC)
- Chicago Fire (NBC)
- The Michael J. Fox Show (NBC)
- Sunday Night Football (NBC)
- Access Hollywood
- NHL
- Premier League Soccer
- Sochi Olympics (NBC and NBCSN)
- Today Show (NBC)
- Psych (USA)
- Suits (USA)
It’s another huge play for Twitter as an advertising platform, which should drive up the number of viewers for these shows and Xfinity TV sign-ups.
