YouTube content heads into the clouds on Virgin America flights from December 15

Good news YouTube fans, video from the Google-owned streaming network will soon be hitting the giddy heights of 35,000, with the news that Virgin America flights will be carrying some of its content from December 15. But it won’t be available globally.

YouTube will be landing on Virgin America’s entire fleet, but will only be available for flights within the US and Mexico. This is still a landmark moment for the Web, and in-flight entertainment, as it marks the first time travelers can watch a selection of YouTube channels on their own personal screens. Of course, given that Virgin America already has WiFi on most US flights, you may have been digging in to YouTube’s billion-plus clips for a while already.

With this new deal, passengers will be able to choose from five Warner Bros. channels, including H+ The Digital Series, WIGSBlue, Geek & Sundry’s Written By a Kid, Crash Course and Barely Political’s The Key of Awesome.
