Expanded deal brings hundreds of NBCUniversal TV episodes to Amazon Prime Instant Video

Internet giant Amazon this morning announced that it has reached an expanded content licensing agreement with NBCUniversal Cable & New Media Distribution.

Under the terms of the deal, hundreds of TV episodes from shows like Parks and Recreation, The Starter Wife, Heroes and Battlestar Galactica will be added to Prime Instant Video.

Amazon says Prime Instant Video now features more than 22,000 movies and TV episodes for Prime members to stream on Kindle Fire or any other compatible Amazon Instant Video device, which includes Apple’s iPad, Roku, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3.

Frances Manfredi, President of NBCUniversal’s Cable & New Media Distribution unit, notes:

“We look forward to further expanding NBCU’s content offering available to Prime subscribers in the near future.”

We’ll keep a close eye on future announcements.
