Loomn.it: Making Sharing Simple Again

Ever find yourself in the middle of an online conversation and want to share a song, a paragraph of text and picture at the same time?

With Loomn.it you can share any or all of the aforementioned file types without registering to a service, downloading an application or installing a browser plugin. You simply upload and share.

It’s just as simple as it sounds, Loomn.it was conceived by it’s founder Beirut born Nagi Salloum for one purpose, which is to make sharing your everyday data as simple as possible, be it simple text that exceeds 140 characters, or a facial expression you just caught from your webcam, and it throws in a shiny loomn.it url to go.

One thing we should make clear, Loomn.it is not just another URL shortner, the service actually stores your data in the cloud for you to share free and publicly with whoever knows the URL.

We spoke to Nagi Salloum the founder prior to the service’s release and asked him about Loomn.it:”I always need a fast tool to share stuff with when I’m online, whether it’s my family or friends, I hate having to sign into 3 or 4 services to share stuff”.

As all simple services online these days, it comes with it’s restrictions, for now you can’t upload more than 3MB per file which it’s founder promises to increase in the near future, but has set to discourage any copyright infringement which they appear to take quite seriously.

Also your link will be publicly valid for 14 days only after it’s uploaded, so if you’re looking for long term online storage or privacy for your files, you would be better off using something like Windows Live Skydrive or Dropbox.

The service is still in beta so we expect to see it improve in the future, perhaps providing an API so other services can include it in applications like Tweetdeck, or it’s founders providing that extra hint of personalization with an optional Firefox or Chrome extension.

We have been using it for a while, and think that Loomn.it has proven once again that some of the best things in life are for free.
