Forget the Tripod: Try this DIY Camera Image Stabilizer

The man behind Cobble Productions is a bona-fide camera geek. In the following YouTube video, he shows us how to make an easy to use camera image stabilizer that’s small, portable and costs less than a $1.

Blurry photos and videos are a tell-tale sign of shoddy craftsmanship. But not everyone is able to lug a bulky tripod around when shooting. This stabilizer folds up small enough to fit in your pocket and allows you to hand-hold your camera with shutter speeds at least 3 f-stops slower than without. You’ll need 3 tools: a washer (or some kind of weight), a firm piece of string and a bolt with coarse threads.
