Tech5 UK: Kano named the UK’s fastest growing tech startup

Congratulations to Kano, the company that makes computers anyone can build from scratch, on being named the fastest-growing startup in the UK.

Speaking about the win, Alex Klein, the CEO and co-founder of Kano said:

We’re thrilled to have won this award. We’re actually really surprised to have won this considering the calibre of the competition here tonight. We can’t wait to come to Amsterdam and appear on stage at The Next Web’s next conference.

TNW and Adyen hosted the UK awards event last night at London’s Hixter Bankside where the five finalists Kano, FesticketBloom and WildMyShowcase, and Crowdcube explained the mission behind their businesses before sitting down to dinner.

The aim of Tech5 is to identify Europe’s fastest-growing young tech companies. Finalists are chosen by their growth rate between 2013 and 2015 based on actual revenue and employee data. Each company must offer its own scalable tech-driven product or service, be less than five years old and have revenue in excess of €200,000.

“The UK is the home of hundreds of thousands of bright entrepreneurs who are working towards creating something unique,” said Myles Dawson, Adyen UK country manager.

Tech5 is proof of the excellent results these companies have achieved and we are honoured to be supporting them in their journey towards global growth.

Honorable mentions

British startups that didn’t make the top five, but were in attendance were VeeqoDuedil, Vector Watch, TransferGo and Ometria Data.
