WhatsApp for iOS has been updated, and now lets users include video in their chat backups. There’s also an improved design for cropping pictures and videos, and location sharing via Apple Maps.
Users can also reduce their data usage when WhatsApp is used for making calls under settings > chats and calls.
As you scroll through your chats, earlier messages will load automatically. You can customize notifications for individual chats, and mute the noisier ones. A swipe to the right will let you mark chats as read, or unread.
If you want to share contacts, you can now do so from the Contacts app, and share locations in Apple Maps directly to people in WhatsApp. When you’re sharing a location, it will appear as a large thumbnail.
The features are rolling out to iOS, but don’t seem to have made an appearance on Android just yet.
