Facebook wants to help your friends pronounce your name correctly

Facebook wants to help your friends pronounce your name correctly

Do you have a strange, oft mispronounced name (like yours truly?) Then Facebook wants to help you out.

A small number of Facebook users are noticing a prompt on their Facebook profiles, asking them how to pronounce their names. Yahoo Tech confirmed the feature with Facebook earlier.

If you click on the prompt, social network with show you a list of pronunciation options, as well as button to play a sample pronunciation clip.

If none of the predetermined clips quite get your name right, you can type in your own pronunciation key.

If you don’t see the prompt, you can also manually check for the feature from the ‘About’ tab on your profile, although it still won’t show up for everyone.

Next time you’re meeting up in person with someone you’ve only known online, maybe Facebook can help you out.
