Healthcare.gov sends 800,000 users the wrong tax information

Healthcare.gov sends 800,000 users the wrong tax information

It’s tax season in the United States. Whether you file your own taxes or use a service, it’s still a pain to round up all the pertinent forms from various sources to make sure you don’t get in trouble with the IRS. It doesn’t help if another government agency sends you the incorrect information.

The New York Times reports that 800,000 users of Healthcare.gov were sent a tax statement with incorrect data and it’s asking those that received the wrong information to wait to file their taxes. Those affected by the error have been contacted and directed to a post on what to do.

Corrected forms should be available in early March.

This is another bit of embarrassment for Healthcare.gov. When the site launched, it was plagued with sign up issues keeping many from actually signing up before the initial deadline. The test servers were also hacked because someone hadn’t changed the default password. But now that folks are actually signed up, let’s get them in trouble with another agency.
