Keeping with the trend of ever-larger apps, Apple today announced it has doubled its maximum app size on App Store from 2 GB to 4 GB, its first ever size increase since the marketplace launched in 2008.

The increase should be particularly beneficial for games, which often have to load tons of pre-rendered content and high-resolution textures.
