Look out for Uber launching a Spotify partnership on Monday

Yesterday, Uber sent out music-themed invites to a press call with CEO Travis Kalanick about a ‘Special Partner Announcement’. What could it be? Someone’s clearly spilled the beans early to The New York Times and TechCrunch. Indeed, the latter has obtained screenshots that hint at how a new integration between Uber and Spotify could work.

Imagine being able to control the music in the car as you travel to your destination. It sounds like fun but there are sure to be disagreements between passenger and driver as to what counts as suitable driving music. I wonder if one of my local Uber drivers would like to hear some ear-crushing Drukqs-era Aphex Twin as he or she negotiates rush-hour traffic?

The press event takes place on Monday morning US time, so we’ll find out more then.
