SoundCloud now reaches 250m listeners, lets you add Instagram photos to your posts and profile

SoundCloud now reaches 250 million listeners, CEO and co-founder Alexander Ljung announced today at TechCrunch Disrupt Europe. That’s up from 200 million in July – some sizeable growth in the last few months.

To coincide with the milestone, SoundCloud rolled out Instagram integration to its music and audio discovery platform today, making it easier for users to add their favorite analog-inspired, square-crop photographs as artwork for uploaded tracks, personal playlists, their profile and groups.

To access the new feature, simply roll over the artwork or display picture for your profile, group, track or playlist. Hit the ‘Choose New Image’ button and you’ll notice that a new Instagram button is now available in the bottom left-hand corner of the pop-up window.

Once you’ve connected your preferred Instagram account, you’ll be able to select any photo that you’ve uploaded to the service in SoundCloud. Technically, it was technically possible to do this before by downloading your Instagram images to a local drive and subsequently uploading them to SoundCloud, but you’ll probably agree that this is a far simpler (and stress-free) solution.
