Spotify eyes Asia and Latin America expansion, adding Traditional Chinese and LatAm Spanish on iOS

Following the global roll-out of its Follow tab on the desktop, Spotify has released an update to its iOS app, adding support for Latin American Spanish and Traditional Chinese.

The addition of these languages obviously grows Spotify’s potential user-base in its existing markets, but given recent rumors that Spotify is planning launches in both Singapore and Mexico, expansion seems highly likely.

According to the Latin American Herald Tribune, Spotify’s managing director in Spain, Javier Gayoso, has confirmed that the service will launch in Mexico soon. Reports from Billboard and Hispanically Speaking News further these claims, as do Spotify’s own job postings in Mexico. Of course, Spotify could also be looking to cater to the growing population of Spanish speakers in the US. Additionally, Spotify is also hiring heavily in Brazil.

As for Singapore, Tech In Asia claims that Spotify will make its Asia debut next week.
