Moscow-based Runa Capital has led a $2 million investment in BackupAgent to bolster the Dutch company’s cloud backup platform for small and medium-sized service providers.
Prior backer Solid Ventures also participated in the round.
BackupAgent delivers cloud backup software to service providers, hosting companies and telcos, offering a comprehensive platform with a central, browser-based management interface to manage all backups across cloud services and devices in company networks.
BackupAgent says its software is platform-agnostic and can handle large laptop/desktop environments as well as server farms with file- and database servers and virtual environments.
What it claims sets it apart from the (many) other providers of cloud backup solutions are “deep branding possibilities” and an API for integration with any third-party control panel.
BackupAgent says its platform is currently deployed at more than 400 service providers, hosting companies and telcos, including KPN in The Netherlands and Portugal Telecom. Overall, the Netherlands-based company claims more than 35,000 end users globally.
