Grand Theft Auto V gets September 17 release date on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

Grand Theft Auto V gets September 17 release date on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

Rockstar has teased the game in a number of popular trailers, but the games studio has finally announced that the latest title in its GTA series — Grand Theft Auto V — will launch on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 17.

The release date will frustrate die-hard fans, as it has been moved back from its projected Spring 2013 release, which Rockstar says is “in order to allow additional development time.”

We knew that development would be tough; it’s the biggest playing environment that Rockstar has developed, which you know is going to be especially impressive when you factor in how expansive GTA IV was when it was released in 2008.

We noted when the second trailer hit (embedded below), it revealed more of the gritty but also humorous storyline often found in Rockstar productions; in particular the three main player controlled characters called Michael, Trevor and Franklin.

We’ve known for a little while now that they would all be criminals whose stories intertwine, but here we can see just how much mischief they all get up to. Bar fights, timber houses going up in flames, police car chases, hanging off the side of a moving yacht on the freeway and jeeps falling out the back of airplanes.

While the date has been pushed back, Rockstar has finally committed to a final release window. Get saving, you’re going to want to grab a copy.
