UPDATE: As of 9.50am EDT Tumblr has been down for almost two hours. We’ve approached the company for comment.
UPDATE 2: The company tells us: “Tumblr is experiencing network problems following an issue with one of our uplink providers. Recovery is moving quickly and we will return to full service shortly.”
Tumblr is currently in the midst of downtime which has lasted at least 20 minutes at the initial time of publishing. DownRightNow shows the downtime as having started shortly after 8am Eastern today.
The hot, lightweight blogging platform is completely out of action. Even its status blog is down (probably not a good idea to host your status blog on your own domain).
A tweet from the company notes that they’re “experiencing slow loading or intermittent errors on certain pages” and are “working quickly to restore performance,” although here are TNW it seems like the whole site is out of action.

DownRightNow reports frequent, short periods of downtime over the past 24 hours. It follows an outage on October 19 when it reported ‘major performance issues” in a tweet that was later deleted.
We’ll update as we hear more.
