Google launches new Cardboard VR headset app collection page and new specs

With Oculus VR and the Samsung Gear pushing the very limits of what you can cram on your face to see things in 3D, the Google Cardboard project is a bit low-key and lower priced fun alternative.

Today the company announced that it’s going to keep the fun going with a new Cardboard app Google Play page, an updated SDK and updated specs on the wearbable.

The new Apps for Google Cardboard page will keep users abreast of the latest apps built specifically for the headset. There’s also a new dedicated Cardboard app.

To help make those apps, the search-giant has updated the Cardboard SDKs to help solve common VR development issues like figuring out lens distortion.

For anyone building Cardboard headsets, Google posted new specs and manufacturing tips.
