Google has today announced that it’s opening its arsenal of Google Earth imagery to businesses for the first time.
Google Earth has been getting increasingly sophisticated in the ten or so years since it launched, letting you traverse the globe using comprehensive satellite imagery as your window to the world.
Now, Google Maps for Business is offering up its gargantuan library of high-res images for sale, which could prove useful for any organization that needs access to geographic snapshots, be it for environmental or landscape-planning purposes. It basically saves them having to collect this photography themselves, which is an expensive process. However, it will be restricted to continental US for now.
