Google today didn’t just update Hangouts for Android, it also released a new version of Hangouts for iOS, which you can download now directly from Apple’s App Store. Unfortunately, the changelog is rather short:
- Device, in-call, and mood status: share what device you’re on, whether you’re in a call, or your current mood.
- Bug fixes and performance improvements.
We understand that SMS and MMS support isn’t possible on Apple’s platform, but it’s still a bit sad to see that animated GIFs and location sharing also didn’t make it in. It’s frankly no surprise Hangouts for Android got bumped to version 2.0 today while the iOS app merely moved up to 1.3.1.
