Facebook is investigating user reports of Timelines on profiles and Pages failing to load (Update: Fixed)

Facebook is investigating user reports of Timelines on profiles and Pages failing to load (Update: Fixed)

Facebook users are reporting issues with their Timelines loading, both on profiles and Pages. The issue appears to be widespread, with reports coming in from all over the world, though it is still not clear whether everyone is affected.

“We’ve received reports that some people are having trouble loading their Timeline and Pages content,” a Facebook spokesperson told TNW in a statement. “We’re actively investigating this issue.”

On Facebook profiles, Timelines aren’t loading and are instead showing the following error: “Sorry, but this page didn’t load properly. Please try again.”

On Facebook Pages, Timelines aren’t loading at all, with no error in sight. Here is The Next Web’s Page:

Interestingly, if you log out of Facebook, our Page loads just fine (Update: actually, Pages also sometimes give the “Sorry, but this page didn’t load properly. Please try again.” error). Profiles, however, give the following generic error for logged-out users:

The page you requested cannot be displayed right now. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may have expired, or you may not have permission to view this page.

Since the News Feed is working perfectly fine, Facebook users are still able to post (and thus complain about the problem). Facebook Page owners are meanwhile using third-party tools to continue posting content (that’s how we posted this update).

We have contacted Facebook about this issue. We will update this article if we hear back and when the issue is resolved.

Update at 11:45AM EST: Some users are reporting the problem has been resolved for them. Others are still having loading issues.

Update at 12:10PM EST: Facebook is investigating. We’ve updated the article with a statement from the company up top.

Update at 12:30PM EST: More users are now reporting the issue is resolved for them.

Update at 1:00PM EST: Fixed for all! “Earlier today, we experienced an issue that prevented some people from loading Timeline or Pages content for a brief period of time,” a Facebook spokesperson told TNW. “We resolved the issue quickly, and content is back to normal. We’re sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused.”
