The world’s largest Photo Hack Day to take place in New York City

The world’s largest Photo Hack Day to take place in New York City

Attention hackers and designers! This weekend, Aviary, a startup that offers a free suite of online photo-editing tools and General Assembly, (one of the 5 coolest coworking spaces in New York City) will be hosting Photo Hack Day, the world’s largest photo hackathon, right here in NYC. The photo hacking is going down this weekend, August 20th – 21st, so sign up here before space runs out. Best of all, tickets are free, so you can even stop by just to see who’s hacking!

Sponsors include NASDAQ, Flickr, Tumblr, Bing and Shutterstock, all of which have exciting things in store. Attendees can expect freebies like Flickr Pro Accounts, $100 in Twilio credits, a Launchrock page and plenty of free t-shirts. Grand prizes for the best photo hacks total to over $10,000, with the first place app to be displayed in Times Square. There will also be sponsored prizes like cameras, iPads, a MacBook Air and a JetBlue gift card.

The resulting apps (perhaps the most exciting part) will be demoed this Sunday, and will be open to the public through an official Photo Hack Day App Store. So gather up a team, get to Manhattan and get hacking! And even if you’re not interested in hacking, you can still grab a ticket to see the demos.

I’ll be there all weekend to represent TWN and get every detail. Tweet to @harrisonweber if you have any trouble finding me. You can expect us to share the best of the best after the event. Check back for more.
