Spotify reportedly plans launches in Belgium, Austria and Switzerland this week

Its US launch finally out of the way, Spotify is working to expand its streaming music service to new parts of the world. Now Paid Content reports that launches in Belgium, Austria and Switzerland are planned for as soon as this week.

Spotify won’t confirm that this timeframe is correct, although it did say that it is “working hard to launch the service in Austria, Switzerland and Belgium as soon as possible.”

The news follows job ads on Spotify’s website which revealed that expansion to Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Hong Kong is also planned.

Europe in particular is seeing increased competition in the streaming music market of late. The Belgian market alone has seen recent launches from We7 and Simfy, with Deezer to follow. US-based Rdio has recently announced its first European market too.
