Amazon launches Kindle Store in France and first French language Kindle device

Amazon has announced that the Kindle Store is now available in France, as well as the availability of the first French-language Kindle device.

The French store offers  825,000 titles, including 35,000 French-language Kindle books. All 28 L’Express best sellers are included – Amazon says this is the the most in a digital store in France. It’s available from today, here.

Authors can also publish their books directly to the store with the French launch of the Kindle Direct Publishing Service. Amazon offers a 70% royalty option for books sold in France, with payment receivable in Euros, British pounds or US dollars.

The French language Kindle device costs €99, and Amazon.fr customers can pre-order it today on www.amazon.fr/kindle with a release date of October 14. The only version available is the bottom-rung Kindle. As with other markets outside the US, there’s no sign of the recently announced Kindle Touch or Android-powered Kindle Fire tablet yet.
