Announced at its F8 conference earlier this year, Facebook is updating its Account Kit with simpler pricing for developers.
Specifically, Facebook is suspending pricing related to SMS messages used to authenticate a user’s sign-on.
Apps involved in FbStart, the company’s early-stage developer incubator, will have SMS charges suspended indefinitely. All other apps using Account Kit will have SMS charges delayed until August 2018.
Thereafter, standard SMS charges will apply for apps exceeding 100,000 confirmation messages.
Facebook says Account Kit has been implemented by developers in over 26 countries, and it’s seeing a conversion rate of up to 90 percent.
