Twilio Sync brings developers real-time cross-platform info via a single API

Twilio Sync brings developers real-time cross-platform info via a single API

Twilio is making it easier for developer to make cross-platform apps that display information in real-time, no matter where users go.

A new API called Sync provides state synchronization regardless of platform, and aims to offload much of the issues that dog an app’s development process. It can be used as a standalone offering, or with Twilio’s Programmable Voice, Video, IP Messaging and other APIs.

“All modern applications are real-time applications,” said Patrick Malatack, Vice President of Product at Twilio. “With Twilio Sync, Twilio takes care of the real-time infrastructure so that developers can build the apps their customers want with less effort and less cost.”

Using Sync, developers can build apps that need to keep track of a user’s sessions in real-time. If a developer were building a chat app that only let you communicate with someone when they were actually using the app, Sync would be a good option.

Sync is available in preview mode for developers starting today.
