Visa is introducing a new developer program aimed at accelerating mobile payments, and will be opening the technology behind its platform up.
Dubbed Visa Developer, the program will provide access to account holder identification technology, as well as p2p payment solutions. It will also lean on Visa Checkout for in-store and online transactions, and has dedicated offerings for security and fraud protection.
Visa says it will roll out more access over the course of this year, including a marketplace where developers can share what they’ve made and connect with potential new partners.
The program has been in the works for years, and is based on a series of APIs that pan Visa’s services. There’s also a testing sandbox, and developers will have access to Visa’s own testing data for its APIs.
