WordPress UI designer releases experimental plugin

WordPress UI designer releases experimental plugin

John O’Nolan, a member of the WordPress Core UI team, today released a plugin for testing his experimental WordPress backend interface changes on willing users.

The plugin allows O’Nolan to get feedback on interface changes that are too radical to be included in the next release of the popular CMS.

“If everything always fitted the current UI then nothing would ever change,” said O’Nolan on the plugin’s announcement post. “If they fit exactly into the current WordPress UI then this would just be a patch on a core ticket and not a plugin.”

At the moment, the plugin contains one experiment–color-coded post statuses, designed to make it easier to tell at a glance which phase of the editorial process a post is in. O’Nolan says there’s much more to come.
