Kanye West’s video game is about his mom ascending to heaven

Kim Kardashian has a massively popular video game. Katy Perry launched hers last December. Hell, even Taylor Swift is getting one. Why should Kanye West be left out?

At the launch event of his latest album, ‘The Life of Pablo’, the hip-hop superstar showed off a video game he had worked on, called Only One. West said, “The idea of the game is, my mom traveling through the gates of heaven.”

The title is most likely based on West’s song of the same name, which is based on his mother and featured Paul McCartney.

It’s not the most obvious premise for a Yeezy game. An unofficial title that made waves in 2013 saw Kanye travel through a wormhole into the future and face off against the likes of Tupac, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre in turn-based rap battles. That seems a lot more like something I’d expect to see him launch.

Only One, however, has West’s seal of approval. He didn’t say which platforms the game will be available on or when, but it certainly looks different from anything else out there at the moment and might well be worth a try.
