Public transit guide Moovit updates on Android with faster navigation and accurate arrival times

Moovit has updated its public transit routing app on Android with a raft of new features aimed at making it easier to find the best transport options to reach your next destination.

The free app now features a simplified design, along with a new search function that surfaces the best ways to get to any local address or point of interest. You can also search for any bus or train line in a city to see where it can take you.

Moovit 4 has a new En Route feature that notifies you of your ETA in real-time, so you know how much longer you can read or nap before you have to hop off a ride.

The app also works offline now. You can store planned trips — along with directions, line information, maps and schedules — for reference even when you don’t have a connection.

Moovit says it’s also improved its user reporting function so riders can share live transit conditions like delays and line changes to alert others.

After raising $50 million earlier this year from investors like Nokia, BMW and Sequoia, Moovit has expanded its service to cover all of the UK’s major cities, including London, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham. The app is now available in more than 600 cities in 55 countries.

Moovit is also working on apps for Apple Watch and Android Wear, with the former slated to arrive April 24 and the latter in Q2 of this year.
