Buzzfeed launches its first experimental app which naturally is about cute animals

Buzzfeed is going all in with experimental apps. After acquiring GoPop last week, its launching its first experimental app. As expected, it’s so full of cute animals, your heart may burst.

Available today, the Cute or Not app for iOS is a mix of the old Hot or Not site and Tinder. You’re presented with a cat or dog and you swipe right if it’s cute and left if it’s not. I mean come on, you’re going to be swiping right about 95 percent of the time.

You’ll also probably be swiping right all day, because who doesn’t like to look at cute animals? I’ve been testing it for a few days and it’s right-swiping crack.

In additional to judging the pets of others, you can add your own pet to the app and have others judge it. After you take a photo, you’re prompted to create an account that links to your Facebook account or via email. You can then post your pet’s bio and photo to Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and other social sites.

If your pet is lucky, it may be selected to be featured on Buzzfeed, which is pretty much the pinnacle of any pet’s life at this point. The app idea was actually conceived in 2012 when Buzzfeed launched its animal vertical. The publication is also planning on launching a news app at some point during 2015.

Like the Buzzfeed site, you can also see which pets are trending and share those pets to various social networks. It’s the cream of the pet crop with so much cuteness, it’s potentially lethal.
