Runtastic plans to bring your workouts to Oculus Rift

Runtastic plans to bring your workouts to Oculus Rift

Runtastic has been translating your workouts to the digital world for some time with apps that even map your runs to Streetview. Now it’s revealed that it’s working on plans to bring the Oculus Rift VR headset into the picture.

The proof of concept Runtastic Oculus Rift app isn’t a new version of the company’s GPS app – that would result in you bashing into the walls – but is instead based around the 7-Minute Workout program.

Runtastic’s take on workouts wearing the Oculus Rift includes 3D avatars acting as personal trainers and a choice of workout environments including a hillside, beachside and black hole.

The company plans to show off the Oculus Rift app at CES 2015 and we’ll make sure we get our hands on it. In the meantime, you can check it out in the video below:

Oculus VR’s CEO said last month that the VR headset is set to arrive in ‘months’ rather than years.
