Wakie’s alarm clock that lets you get woken up by strangers is now available for iPhone

We know, we know, you’ve long been hankering for the time when you could arrange a phone call with a perfect stranger to wake you up in the morning. If you’re an Android or Windows Phone user, of course, you’ve had this option since September, but poor old iPhone owners have been left out of the action until today.

Now, however, Wakie is available to download for iOS devices, meaning that the sound of a stranger’s voice first thing in the morning doesn’t have to be the forerunner to a pang of regret. While the whole reason behind it is to get strangers to wake you up, if no one accepts the task, there’s an automated system to ensure you don’t oversleep.

The company said that to date the app has been used to make 30 million wake up calls by more than 1.5 million users. The iOS version is available to download now for free.
