Barnes & Noble launches a Nook Audiobooks app for Android

Barnes & Noble launches a Nook Audiobooks app for Android

Barnes & Noble has launched a new Nook Audiobooks app for Android, serving up more than 50,000 titles for phones and tablets.

The app accompanies the existing e-reading app, however Nook Audiobooks appears to only be available in the US for now.

For launch, those who download the app for the first time will be able to get two audiobooks for free, so it’s probably worth downloading it for that if nothing else.

Many of the audiobooks also offer a free sample clip before you commit to buying, while there’s a mini player too, which means you can continue to use your phone and control your audiobooks simultaneously.

Thus far, Barnes & Noble required you to download a media console to your PC to transfer audiobook mp3s to your devices, so the fact that you can now access all audio content through a dedicated app that links directly to your Nook account is a clear step forward.
