Foursquare brings its Swarm check-in app to Windows Phone

Foursquare brings its Swarm check-in app to Windows Phone

As promised, Foursquare is bringing its Swarm app to Windows Phone. The app, which allows users to check-in, organize events and see how far away their friends are, should be available to download now in the Windows Phone Store. (If not, hang tight – it’ll likely appear within the hour.)

The Windows Phone app is almost identical to its iOS and Android counterparts, although the tabbed navigation is located at the top of the screen, rather than the bottom. The core user experience is unchanged, however.

Foursquare’s decision to unbundle the check-in and refocus its core app around location-based recommendations has been controversial. Some users have questioned the split and voiced their disapproval through app store reviews; such a decision was always going to be divisive though, and it’ll be interesting to see whether Foursquare can regain the support of its new critics.
