Indiegogo launches its first ever native mobile app, but only for iPhone users in Canada

Indiegogo launches its first ever native mobile app, but only for iPhone users in Canada

Crowdfunding platform Indiegogo has today announced the launch of its first native mobile app for iOS devices, but it’s currently only available for users in Canada.

As you might expect, the app allows users to keep track of campaigns they’re watching or have backed (as well as the share them with friends via social media) but it also allows campaign owners to manage their projects too.

For example, creators can receive notifications when a contribution is made, monitor comments, post updates and photos, and thank contributors.

Although a global crowdfunding platform launching its first app only in Canada might seem a bit odd, it’s actually the second-largest market for the company and it follows the introduction of a number of features specifically for Canadian campaigners and contributors, including support for French language users and payments in Canadian dollars.

It’s good to see Indiegogo start to support native apps, rival platform Kickstarter has offered an iOS app for more than a year already, but the company will need to expand the availability swiftly to reflect its global user base.

A company spokesperson said that the app will be coming to the UK and US by around August, and that there’s an Android version on the way, too.
