Mobile word processing app Quip updated with Comments, Likes and Themes

Mobile word processing app Quip updated with Comments, Likes and Themes

Quip, the collaborative word processing app for Android and iOS devices from ex-Facebook CTO Bret Taylor, has been updated today to add new social features.

Given Taylor’s background, and the general proliferation of Like buttons around the Web, it’s perhaps not too surprising to see the introduction of a ‘Like’ button, which can be used to like edits as well as messages.

The team described the update as “the most significant release we’ve had since we launched seven months ago” and in addition to Liking things, users now have the ability to leave a comment (apparently one of the most requested features, according to Quip) and will see a bubble in the margin with the message.

There’s also now the option to choose from four new Themes which use typefaces from Commercial Type, and there’ll be new themes added in future.

Rounding off the list of updates is the introduction of unlimited document version restoration, so it doesn’t matter how old the version you’re trying to restore is, and two new widgets for Quip on Android, which allow you to view your Quip inbox or a particular document from your home screen.

All the changes are effective immediately across the iPhoneiPadAndroid, and desktop versions of Quip.
