Spotify for iPad gets Browse playlist discovery feature and the option to follow friends and artists

Spotify for iPad gets Browse playlist discovery feature and the option to follow friends and artists

Three months after it debuted on the iPhone, Spotify is introducing its ‘Browse’ playlist discovery feature on the iPad. The tool replaces the ‘What’s New’ area previously accessible from the menu bar, with a selection of mixes based on new releases, moods and an eclectic range of music genres.

Spotify Premium subscribers can now also follow their friends and artists to see when they release new music or publish an interesting playlist. The feature is only available on the iPad at the moment, although the company said it’ll be available “soon” for iPhone users too.

As part of today update, Spotify also added a toggle so that iPhone and iPad users can specify whether their individual playlists are private or visible to other users. On a minor note, search is now smarter and more responsive than before, and the design for viewing playlists has also been refined.
