On the heels of its Android update from earlier this week, Google has released version 4.5 of its Google+ app for iPhone and iPad, to phase out its older Messenger protocol, which has been replaced by the Hangouts app, and add support for accessing photos and videos from Google Drive.
Users hoping to save their Messenger conversations can use Google’s Takeout service to back up their data. The other new feature for the app is the ability to initiate a Hangout or share a private post with a user directly from a Google+ profile.
