Mint Digital is an agency that has made several endeavours into launching its own services – such as StickyGram (Instagram stickers) and Olly, the USB-powered ‘robot’ that pumps smells into the air to notify you of online events. Now, its latest project, Foldable.me is opening to all, and it’s deliciously tempting.
Foldable.me allows you to create a customized cardboard version of yourself or a friend via a Web interface that lets you modify hair, facial features, skin color and the like. Then, for $11.99, you can have it delivered anywhere in the world. When it arrives, you just need to fold up the flat cardboard printout that you receive (no glue is needed) and you have a little mascot to do with as you see fit.
We first covered Foldable.me back in March, when the service was raising seed funds on Kickstarter. 919 backers and $25,355 later, it goes live today. Okay, it’s a very silly idea but it’s also irresistibly fun.
Mint Digital was kind enough to send us some shots of a foldable version of me, enjoying a sunny afternoon in the garden with TNW on an iPad. If you fancy getting a mascot of your own, the site is live now and open for business.
