Foursquare just launched a no-brainer partnership with OpenTable for reservations in its Explore tab

Foursquare announced an interesting partnership today with OpenTable. Tap on any place in the Foursqare app’s Explore map that’s an OpenTable partner and you’ll be able to make reservations right in the app.

The partnership allows you to choose a time and date, number of people and snag a table all from within the Explore entry for the venue.

This is the second big partnership in recent weeks for OpenTable, which also got a nice boost with Siri support on Apple’s iOS 6.

Foursquare recently updated its Android app to bring back the ‘nearby friends’ filter and simplified its Explore view with a better map, new search filters and more. It also recently added a notification setting that allows you to see where your friends check in at all times, no matter how close they are to you.

This continues the trend of Foursquare towards becoming a search engine for relevant events and venues, rather than a ‘check-in’ tool.
