Pinterest now lets you pin Vimeo videos with the Pin It bookmarklet, works just like YouTube

Pinterest today announced additional support for Vimeo. The Pin It bookmarklet can now pin Vimeo videos, just like it already does for YouTube videos.

The bookmarklet lets you pin videos not only from Vimeo.com, but from pages that have embedded Vimeo videos as well. That means, for example, if you saw a Vimeo video embedded on a site somewhere, let’s say from The Next Web, you can pin just the video, not the whole webpage with said video.

Vimeo videos are already interspersed with YouTube videos on Pinterest’s video feed over at pinterest.com/videos. Still, they’re pretty rare, and this addition should mean they will be pinned more often. Vimeo should be pretty happy about that.

YouTube and Vimeo are the big video sites, but what smaller video portals do you think Pinterest should support next? Personally, I want to see at least two additions: Wimp and TED. I probably watch more videos on there than YouTube and Vimeo.

If you haven’t added the Pin It bookmarklet to your browser’s bookmarks bar yet, instructions are available on this webpage: “Pin It” Button. If you’re on Chrome here are the steps:

For those unfamiliar with the Pin It bookmarklet, Pinterest describes it as follows:

Once installed in your browser, the “Pin It” button lets you grab an image from any website and add it to one of your pinboards. When you pin from a website, we automatically grab the source link so we can credit the original creator.

In other words, if you use Pinterest a lot, you’ll want to use this bookmarklet. It lets you Pin content without having to go to Pinterest.com every time you want to do so.
