‘1,000 Places to See Before You Die’ looks way better on the iPad

Over the weekend, The Wonderfactory and Workman Publishing released the best seller, ‘1,000 Places to See Before You Die,’ as an iPad App. The App transforms an awesome book into what it may have always meant to be. It features interactive maps, thousands of professional and user-submitted photos, plus the ability to share tips with travelers.

The publishers could have easily released this title for iBooks, but instead decided to create a much more immersive experience, taking advantage of what the iPad has to offer in a simply beautiful (and free) package. Workman Publishing explains:

“We knew that if we combined The Wonderfactory’s ability to create useful and addictive experiences with our useful and addictive content, we’d have something to be proud of. The 1,000 Places to See Before You Die app is the happy result,” said Robert S. Miller, Group Publisher, Workman Publishing

The app also includes an elegant map-based interface that allows geographic and thematic destination searches, provides detailed information on each destination, and even recommends preferred times of year to travel. The 1,000 Places to See Before You Die app is now available free at iTunes.
