Reaching out: How to pitch your product to The Next Web

Reaching out: How to pitch your product to The Next Web

We get a lot of pitches here at TNW Apps.  Some are good, some are great.  Some are terrible.  As we see it, we’re a premiere resource for your application to get some face time with the people who matter: the user.  With that in mind, I wanted to take a minute to give you some “Do and Don’t” overviews for submitting your application to us for review.

DO:

  • Connect with us in any way possible.  Email is great, but we’re also available on Twitter via a couple of accounts; @BradTNW and @TNWapps.
  • Leave comments about other applications that interest you.
  • Give us all of the details that we’ll need in an initial email.
  • Let us know if you have special offers for beta testers, or an invite only program.
  • Stay in touch after you’ve been reviewed.  Let us know about updates.

Don’t:

  • Send me email addressed to “Dear Author”, “Potential reviewer” or something similarly generic.  You’re asking for us to write about your application, and to put it in front potentially hundreds of thousands of users.  Take some time to at least learn our names.
  • Leave comments on other applications if you’re going to just end up reviewing your own competing application/service/company, etc.
  • Wait days or even weeks to respond when we ask for more information.
  • Change things without letting us know.

That’s the run-down.  Pretty easy, eh?  We’re here for you, and we’re on your side.  OK, so we’re also on the side of the user and warning them off from bad products.  But we want to know what you’ve got in the works.

The Next Web is all about whatever is cool, whatever is new.  Help us to help you, and we’ll both be happier in the end.
