Earlier this month, Apple poached DJ Zane Lowe from BBC Radio One for an undisclosed role at its Cupertino HQ. Now itβs after another hire with a background in talking about music and pop culture.
Itβs currently advertising for an editorial producer, based in London, and asks for someone with βspecific expertise in music journalismβ who is a βseasoned writer with a broad pop culture background.β
Music Ally spotted the job ad, which says the role will be split between production and editorial duties. Appleβs after someone who can manage other writers as well as βwriting lively copy with personality.β
The vacancy also suggests that Apple will be substantially ramping up its editorial efforts in the iTunes Store. The ideal candidate should have βdeep contacts in the freelance world with writers who can cover the spectrum of pop culture (music, movies, books, etc.).β
Improving the way it writes about content in the iTunes Store could be part of a long overdue refresh by Apple. Last month, the company snapped up UK startup Semetric to improve its sales analytics behind the scenes.
